The terms Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality have become pretty common in our lives. Many of us own our Virtual Reality headsets or glasses that allow us to enjoy an immersive experience in some virtually crafted world or a smartphone application that allows us to cast virtual elements on the real world. That sentence pretty much explains the key difference between virtual and augmented reality – virtual reality takes the user in a virtual world while augmented reality brings virtual elements into the real one. A combination of both is called Mixed Reality (MR). And the technology that utilizes all three together simultaneously is called Extended Reality (XR). It’s not as complicated as it seems, to be fair.
